I just installed a 460 into my 79 3/4 ton 4x4. I am using a 351/400 bellhousing and a 12" Sachs flywheel/ diaphram clutch kit. I am using the mechanical clutch linkage with the rod that pushes against the throwout fork. My problem is that I do not have enough travel to depress the clutch fingers and it will not shift with the motor running. I just get a whole lot of grinding of gears. My questions, 1. Is there any way to modify or make a new "z bracket" so that I can use my existing setup?
2. If not, does anyone know how I could retrofit the truck with an external hydraulic setup?
3. How much travel on the cylinder that pushes on the throwout fork does the hydraulic setup have? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks
