The BW 1345 was used in the heavy trucks, but it ONLY used a fixed rear yoke, and yours is probably a slip. You can easily remove the slip yoke from your driveshaft, but you'd probalby have to have it lengthened.

The NP-208F will bolt up, but it's not as strong.

Steve probably knows more about what types of swaps fit perfectly, but I'd go with another BW1356 before a 1345.

Ford changed to the 1356 mid 1987.

the np208 is also a very strong proven unit. if you change drive shafts and get a transfer case without the slip yoke it will work tooand you can get rid of that crappy slip yoke design

I'm not recommending either one - just mentioning what WILL FIT. I've only ever used my 208, but I've seen the others in junkers, and I know the mounting bolts & input splines are the same. If you get one with a rear output YOKE, you can probably just remove your slip yoke and attach your u-joint to the fixed yoke. If you get one with a FLANGE (round & flat with ~10 bolt holes), you'll need a companion flange. I'm sure either can be made to work easily.

I believe the output shafts of the transmission are different.

I pulled the trans and transfer case out of a 87 f150 just wanting to know if there would be any problems putting it in my 78 f150
