I am not sure if I have a blown head gasket or something worse.
My son was driving his 91 f150 351 with a slight coolant leak. Well the inevitable happened he ran out of coolant and the car died on the freeway in a billow of smoke. We are still able to start the car but it has a occasional clanking sorta sound coming from underneath by the exhaust and smoke puffs coming from the oil cap. Head casket or worse?
If you blew the headgasket, and there was coolant in the system, it would shoot white smoke out the exhaust pretty thick. It doesn't sound like you blew the engine to me. It didn't overheat and sieze since you can still start it.
