blind meaning i cannot see how to remove or literally actually see the retaining clip well enough to see how it comes off the pivoting arm at back of motor
motor started howling like a squirrel recently, luckily ive a spare in another cab here so im yoinking that one out (eventually) to put in my truck
im going by my orig shop manuals i have so I know the clip needs to come off and thats where i am blind, lol
im back at it in a bit to try aagain, hah hah
just in case though - a little help? picture of the damned clip?
Don't have a pic so I will try to describe it as best I can. The clip is u shaped so it puts out pressure on the wiper arm. On the clip there is a hole at the end of a cut out slot. The hole fits onto/thur the arm that holds wiper arms on. To get the clip off you have to push until it moves down the cut out slot to were the hole is and then the clip will come off. The arm is grooved like for an e clip.
If you take motor loose it will give you a little more room to work with. Take a flat head and try to push the clip down the slot to the hole and it will then come off. Hope this helps, good luck!
thanks guys; you did great job of explaining it, i still had to grab pic of it once i freed it from the header and removed the motor bolts themselves to understand, lol
got motor out of my 71 cab put in it and it was dead!!!
bench test on old and the 71 motor and finally found out is was bad ground and an intermittent break in power wire - redid wires (truck is getting rewired peice by piece hahah) and its as good as new again
