removing cat on v10

I want to remove my cat on my v10 and just replace it with a straight 3 inch pipe (have a flowmaster 40 single 3 in dual 2.5 out). but the shop wont remove it , but said if i do, theyll pit the pipe in place. Is it safe jist to cut it out?

they wont do it because its illeagal. the fines can range upwards of over $50,000. But if you remove it, yes, they can just put a piece of pipe there. i wouldnt recommend it though. depending on your state emissions laws and all that crap.

I had a shop build me a "test pipe" so that I could troubleshoot problems if they arose. You just have to word it as a temporary or test pipe.

I'll never have an issue as far as getting a ticket or anything. Lol so I can just cut the pipe before and afrr the cat then drive to them and have them install thr pipe? It's like 4 blocks up the street from me so I wouldn't have to drive far

Never say never! Just call up the shop and ask if they'll still install it even after you cut the cat off and go from there.

Can there be any benefits of cutting the CAT out? I live in Nebraska and they don't do any emissions checks here. I've also never heard of a cop ever ticketing for not having a CAT.

Completely agree on my V10. Wish the PO of mine would have left it in. Now on my diesels it was another story, but on my gasser it is a pain in the rear end. I know.... he can take it out of his and give it to me.

even with mods your not going to see much change in MPG's with the V10. biggest gain will be your right foot.

Gear Vendor mod will work....right foot could still be a problem though...

Gear Vendors Under/Overdrive Ford Truck-Car-Van 4-Wheel Drive 4-Speed and 5-Speed Automatics.

Final drive ratio for 4.30's (which is what is on mine) - 3.05 stock

W/gear vendor double overdrive - 2.38

For comparison the stock final drive ratio w/3.55 gears (I believe 3.73 is limit on stock excursion) - 2.52
