i have a lifted f250 with a 315/75 16 tires and i am having braking problems. have replaced rotors and pads and within a month or two the front rotors worp. what can i do to improve my braking? dont want smaller tires - they dont look good on the truck.
can i put on bigger rotors and calipers? if so what do you recommend? i do tow a trailer. so it is a safety issue.
thanks
Change the fluid, go back to motorcraft pads. The autozone/ napa pads are junk. If you have a 1999-2004 truck then I imagine you could swap in 05+ rotors and calipers. Also do you have tralier brakes? I've ran the size tire you have on. 2004 truck and unless I was just driving really hard or following to close the brakes were decent. The 06 I have now seems to stop a lot better especially towing.
I've tried EBC brake pads and power slot rotors and no luck. I'll try and change the fluid. But is there any other sagestions. I'm not afraid to spend some money.
The last time I had the front changed I took it to my mechanic. He didn't say anything about the calipers. He said it was because of the large tires. I trust him with all my v10 work. What is your sagestion ?
If you keep going through rotors you either...
1)ride the hell out of your brakes
2)got extremely cheap pads and rotors put on
3)have a caliper sticking issue
4)combination of the above somehow
I have ALWAYS had great succes with Wagner Severe Duty pads. I have run them on cars, SUVS, and now my Super Duty. Last week I replaced all 4 rotors and all pads. I got a great deal through rock auto and paid $250 shipped to my door for everything I needed. I have tremendous stopping power with no noise and no brake dust
