Error Code P 411 -Air Flow
Hi,
I just had Auto Zone read the error code on my '96 F 150. It is a small V8. The error code was P-411 Low Air Flow (Smog Pump System). That is as close as he could get.
Is there an easy way to isolate the failing component? I didn't see any breaks in the pipe and the pump itself looked fine (at least from the outside). It also looked like it would be a real nasty task to pull the pump off the engine.
I'm open to any suggestions.
Also, apart from the check engine light, the engine seems to hesitate during acceleration.

I'd recommend confirming the code first. Find the sensor that the computer uses to detect (or inferr) the air pump flow and test its function & wiring. I can't offer any specific info because that's OBD-II and I'm into EEC-IV (older) computers.
