OBDII

I think all 1996 F-150s have OBDII, I've never come across one that isn't OBDII.

If you have the inside diagnostic connector on the lower part of the driver's side dash, you have it.

I have a small connector under the dash, right under the glove box. Is this it? If so, where can i get a reasonably priced scanner??

Yep your OBDII equiped.

FTE has some nice scanners. We have SUN scanners at work they are pretty nice.

Autzone does scan OBDII vehicles for free too.

AutoZone sells the scanner for the OBDII for $130 and it works great!
