I have an '09 Escape. The rear glass opens on its own--key in or out. I shut it, it opens. I lock it, it opens. Does anybody know what may cause this? Is this a signal being sent from the main computer, or is it just the rear glass locking mechanism that's glitching? The fuses are all good. I just unplugged the rear glass lock for now. Any info would be appreciated.
The lift glass and gate are tied together with a series of relays. There is a relay in the Smart Junction Box that feeds the glass which could be your problem but it's not servicable.
You could pull F17 from the fuse panel on the inside but that will kill "all" your locks. That would tell you if it's a problem other than the locking mechanism itself.
If it were me I'd monitor the input on the BN/BU wire on the connector that you removed to see if it's getting the 12V when it shouldn't. You'd need a meter that has a min/max function to capture the event while you go about your business.
The lift glass actuator, switch and ajar switch appear to be all in one unit too.
Here's a diagram from the Ford "09 Electrical Diagram Manual.
