For those of you with 09 + 150's that have gone off road in mud or sand. How did the truck perform with all the traction crap it has from the factory? Mine is "ok" in the snow but have yet to get into mud or deep sand and am concerned all the traction and sway controls wont allow me to dig in and let her rip, so to speak? I know these systems can be "shut off" but not completley so I was curious what the experiences/solutions are.
my 09 did pretty well after making sure the traction was turned off. what i didnt like was while in 2wd it wouldnt let the truck slide around without kicking in the stability control if you tried to counter steer.
the 12 feels really different. It will let you sling the truck around in 2wd with no interference when the advancetrak is off. Great thing I love about the 12 over the 09 is the advancetrak stays off under 35mph. In my 09 if I turned it off it came back on after 35mph and stayed on even when the speed dropped back under 35. I had to turn it off again. 12 isnt like that. When it drops back under 35 its turns itself back off. I love sliding it around in the mud and on the beach. Havent really had the option to do that since my 2005. And I can lock the rear in my 12 in 2wd. 09 would only lock in 4wd
stock tires are so bad! i guess the F150 locker doesnt shut off like on the SD when it goes over 40mph? Heard alot of guys in the SD section say that their's shuts off when you go over that?
Yes it's the 5.0 with a Flowmaster dumped before the axle. And the locker does shut off at 20mph and re engages when the speed drops back under. I don't think he even had it locked in this video.
And yes the stock tires suck bad. Those are the good years. The truck in the video is now on a 6" fabteck lift and 37" toyo m/t with black fuel 20x10 dunes
I just wish there was a way to install a cutoff switch in the system so we could truly control these systems as we wish, and shut them off completely! Gotta be a way.

wouldnt unlocking and then locking back in like that break something? Ive seen a detroit locker break before and it was awful inside the diff housing. If you were stuck bad and needed wheel speed to get out i would think this locking/unlocking would defiently break something inside the axle, no?
The system is very smart. It should only lock in if both wheels are spinning the same speed. And it's has to be under 20mph. So if it's locked and the speed rises above 20, it unlocks. Then say you slow down or you stop moving it will lock back in if they are moving the same speed Or not moving at all
