I just bought a 95 f350 with a 460 and an automatic crew cab 2wd. It was wrecked and sitting a few years. I got it up and running but it runs rough and wont idle. But when it is running and you put you foot in the throttle it revs good and seems to have plenty of power going down the road. At first I heard a vacuum leak and upon looking I found a wire that rats had chewed. It is located on the pass. side of the motor on the rear of the wire harness. Same wire harness that goes to injectors. It comes straight out the back of the harness with it own little loom over it. From the best I can tell, since its old and possibly discolored a little, its yellow with a red stripe. I cannot find where it goes to if anything. Also on the back of the intake facing the firewall is a vacuum port. This was the source of the whistle I previously heard. Its plugged now but I am wondering if something went there or was it just plugged originally. Thanks for any help.
Yeah the oil pressure sender wire is the lone ranger wire on the harness. My small block's is on the front of the engine though. It being a 460 that may just be it. Does the oil pressure gauge/dummy light work?
I bet yall are right. Cause the oil guage does not work. I will track down the sensor tonight and run a new wire. At least now i know where to look. On the vacuum port the pcv and map sre connected at the lower intake. This port is on the upper and the only one. I believe cruise is electronic.
Yes the Speed Control is electronic. A Ford does not have cruise. Cruise is a GM term.
The top vacuum port should be for the MAP sensor.
The bottom should go to the PCV valve with a "T" going to the CANP solenoid.
Thanks guys. The oil pressure guage is now working like a champ. It has excellant oil pressure, especially for having 335,000 miles. The truck however is still now running quite right. Is the map sensor located behind the coil on the driver side of the intake? If so then it is hooked up to a line off the front of the intake. I looked again and still cannot find anything not connected. To back up a little bit of history on the truck. It was wrecked 6 years ago and parked in a field. I bought it and got it to start and this last weekend I replaced the front clip. Now Im working on getting it road worthy again. I just drove it down the road a mile or so just to see what happens. I now know it will need a new thermostat. I left the hood off and was watching the top rad. hose and it was collapsing and overheating. so that will get changed tomorrow. I am still having idle issues. It hasnt been idling but after running it down the road it will now idle at 500 rpms. Still dies when putting it in gear. And the motor still seems to lack some power. I do know when swapping front clips and installing the belt the smog pump was froze. With a little help from a pry bar it freed up and I put the belt on. What does the pump effect. Is there an easy way to remove it if need be. I also believe it started running better when the service engine light came on. Is there a way to jump terminals on the test port to get a code from it.. Thanks again

Don't believe that gauge. It's not really a gauge at all unless you do the oil gauge mod. In stock form, it reads either normal or low, that's it. I have a thread on here somewhere showing that on my 96, I had to replace the gauge movement with one from an older truck to get the gauge working with the new pressure transmitter.

Try smacking the idle air valve with a wrench or screwdriver handle. It might be froze up. I have had a couple Fords where it gets stuck and won't idle unless you give it throttle manually.

Not much, just pushes air into the cats for better reaction of whatever. But if you take the pump out, you'll need an idler in it's place or you might be able to run a shorter belt. Or just take the pump out and gut it, if you don't mind it hangin out down there.
Edit: found the thread. It's actually not mine, but I did post pictures here showing the difference between my 96 and and older trucks's oil gauge movements. Your 95 may or may not have the "real" gauge movement in it. I don't know what year the parts truck my donor cluster was from, but it was the body style after 91, same as mine.

Im just assuming its good. It hovers on the A in Normal. It was born in march of 95. Not really too concerned cause if i keep the truck i will have mechanical guages

I may actually pull it tonight and try cleaning it since i have to chang tstat anyways

Well it can just stay put then. Lol. I am goig to check to make sure the map sensor is hooked up correctly.
