Wiring KC Lights Question

I am installing some KC lights, and i was wondering two things, A) what is the best way to get in to the firewall from under the hood,
B) for the power could i just splice it to the cigarette lighter?

Thanks

Wiring KC Lights Question

This should be in the electrical forum - if it disappears from here, a moderator moved it there.

You can get power from the engine compartment fuse block, run it to a relay under the hood, and up to the lights. Then run the relay trigger (ground) through the firewall to a dash switch.

Wiring KC Lights Question

Get power from somewhere else other than an existing circuit. Chances are the lights would blow the fuse for the cig. lighter circuit.

Wiring KC Lights Question

I'm in the process of wiring some lights myself.. ..i've built a console to house my CB and light switches so I've been running up through a drain hole behind the seat, under the seat and into the console.. ..i've also decided instead of trying to fit another fuse box under the hood i've modified an old Square D wire trough to hold the fuse holders behind the seat, sanded the paint down and bolted the metal trough to the inside of the cab. Just to make sure I've got a good ground I've run some #8 stranded back to the engine compartment where the battery neg side bolts to the frame.. then run switch legs and relays around. In other words, I've got a bunch of wires.. ..need to make the bars to mount the lights to. I'm using Warns myself.. then I'm getting an isolator and a second battery.
