351 flexplate help

well im currently working on a friends 84 truck, and we are swapping in a 351 in place of the 302 due to it knocking, the truck has the aod trans and the 351 we picked up was without a flexplate and came out of a 85 model truck, but after somewhat decoding the casting number i learned that the 351 is actually a 74 model block, and the flexplate we bought for the a 85 truck will not line up on the crank flange, but the 302 flexplate will line up.

So will the original 302 flexplate work or what year and model do i need to source a flexplate from?

Thanks in advance, sorry for the long post.

The 302 motor internal balance changed in 1981 from 28oz to 50oz, but the 351 has always been 28oz. What that means is you cannot use the 302 flexplate that you have, and the AOD requires a very specific flexplate so what you need to order is one from a mid/late '80s Crown Vic that had the 351/AOD powertrain combo.
