Question "Sevice engine soon" light

What the are the different causes of this light to come on? It came on a couple of days ago, I reprogramed the chip with the microtuner, it went away for about a day or so then came back on again. What should I be looking for?

There are dozens of things that will set an SES light. The more common codes resulting from chips/programmers are overboost, and ICP signal out of range.

Is the light constantly on?

Yes, the light is on all the time. It's not from overboost though, I haven't had it over 2000 rpm sence I last programed it and the light was turned off. It came back on today. Won't go off unless I reprogram it again.

Unfortunately you're going to have to take it somewhere to get the codes pulled, unless you have the new microtuner that will read them.

Autozone does it for free, but the el crapo scanner they use only pulls generic codes, so you might end up at a dealer

I wish I did have the 1705 tuner to check the codes with, but that is not the case. Guess I'll have to take it in to the dealer and have it checked out. Seems to run just fine, haven't noticed a single other thing wrong, except that the service engine soon light won't stay off. Thank for all your help guys!

Well I went out and bought a OBD ll code reader ($140) to try and figure out the problem. Pretty neat device I must say. It not only reads the codes in about 10 seconds, it also lets you erase the codes and reset the computer and can even tell you if the work was done correctly. The codes I pulled were PO677 and P1112. One has to do with the "cylinder 7 glow plug circuit", the other, "Intake air temperature circuit". Not sure exactly what this all means, but I now at least know where to start.
