Will an 86 f-250 rear bolt in an 86 f-150 without problems?

Your wheels won't fit. Your driveshaft may be too long also, and you might have to get a adapter type u-joint from Napa. It should bolt to the springs though.

To check the u-joint, go to rockauto or autozone and look up both trucks rear u-joints and see if they are the same number.

I'm asking because my 250 is just about toast. I can't find a cheap enough 250 to buy but I can find a 150. I need the 150 to be able to handle the load my 250 can.

Then don't ya think you should be buying a 250 up front? Instead of getting a 150 and then replacing differentials and springs and brakes and whatever else to get up to a 250 rating?

What are trying to do? Carry a heavy load or tow a heavy load? What's the setup of your f250 now, and what's wrong with it? That's the good thing about these trucks, some stuff, especially the engine/tranny/transfer case/cabs, are interchangeable.

I need it to carry heavy loads. I know the 9" rear can handle more than the 150 8.8 . It's set up with the heavy duty rear ( i guess a tow package of sorts from the factory). This was my dad's truck that I use now for tile work. I know I used to carry a yard of sand and 2 pallets of tile with my dad back in the day and would like to still do it. I have an 07 lariat and would like to keep it from doing that kind of hauling. I had hot start issues which a starter cured for a bit-came back-Found out i needed a new battery. I replaced the battery yesterday and have a new hot start issue. It seems to be either dumping a bunch of fuel after I shut it off. When I restart it hot i have to spin it a good bit and pedal it then I get a cloud of black smoke. After it starts it's fine. I need a new bed because its rotted through, The tranny(c6) leaks and slips like hell til it's warmed up..... I guess I need to know where to start and don't really feel like dumping a ton of dough in a haul truck. Thanks.

I thought transmission did the opposite, slip after being warmed up. If you suspect that fuel is getting dumped after its turned off, pumping the carb is the last thing you want to do. make sure your choke is working properly.

I don't know what to say. The tranny slips before it warms up. I'll play with the choke. Any tips on the choke?

The piston seals are going hard, and once warmed up, the seals soften, making it apply pressure on the clutches better.

Sometimes additives like the Sea Foam Trans Tune will help soften them up, such that it isn't as big of an issue. Let it go too long with the slippage, and you will have to get the trans rebuilt. It typically is more noticeable in cold weather, if you have this much trouble in the warm weather, the winter has to be terrible.

Yeah, in the winter it has to warm up a decent bit. I'll try the seafoam and keep an eye out for another tranny. I played with the choke today and I'm assuming the choke needs to be closed when the engine is cold and open when it's warm? Not much of a carb guy (pretty good at fuel injection). If my electric choke is bad, can I get a new one at a parts store? A tranny and a new bed and I'll be ste I guess. Thanks a lot guys.

Yes. on all counts. Need to be sure the choke is getting power as well, or a new one won't fix your problem.

So did the choke fix your starting issue?
