I have just today aquired a set of what I think are antique tool's. They are real boxy and thick and have Ford in script on them. I don't know if they have any real value and it doesn't matter. What I would like to know is if anyone know's how to bring this old of a tool somewhere back to original? I have already wire brushed them and they look fair, but I would prefer better.
What kind of tools exactly? They may be worth something to a collector if they look a bit bashed about.
However, if we're talking wrenches here & you just want to keep them around or display them:
Find out what the original finish was, if it's Chrome then they can easily be replated, ditto with Nickel or Cad.
There are a lot of places that deal with antique woodworking stuff, never seen a antique wrench place tho..?

Those old Ford wrenches didn't have a finish on them other than possibly black paint. Wire brush them or steel wool and WD-40 them, wipe them down and coat with paste wax to seal. Do a search on some of the model T sites. You might find some info there.
That *black paint* is actually Parkerizing. It;'s achenical etch finish. Youcan buy the chemicals to resrtore the original look. I've used it on some M2 50cal Brownings.
I had an offical at FoMoCo check it out for me ( I'm a retired Ford employee) I gave him a part number of one of the wrench's and he let me know that this set was sold "RAW" no paint, no finish.
So I left them wire brushed and put a urathan clear coating on them to help keep rust away.
I mounted them to my garage wall for a conversation piece.( I didn't drill them)
There may be collector value to them, according to Ford's, but they didn't give me a dollar amount.
yo,
I have 2 or maybe 3 Model T wrenches too from my grandfather's farm in Maine. I should mount them soon too. Will do this weekend when i clear up the old toolbox.
I went to an estate auction a couple years ago. They had vintage John Deere tools mounted on a display board. Looked really nice mounted with a rough barnboard frame. I think the final bid was up close to $200 or so.
