I just received an oem style bumper (not step) for my 86 f-150 shortbed flareside, but can't find brackets for it anywhere (it currently has an aftermarket bumper with welded on brackets). If anyone has a set that they aren't using anymore, or know where to get them I would appreciate any help. I really don't want to fabricate them myself!

 

i got some for my '86 last year through my local ford dealer, have you tried there?

 

yes i did and they said they discontiued them in 97. i'm sure they are somewhere. i'm just having trouble finding them. do you still have the number for the dealer? maybe i can call them and have them ship a set if they have anymore.

Varnish: For your truck, the brackets were in use until 1997, as your truck is a fleetside, and uses the same bumper brackets as all the 80-96/7 trucks, With the 80-87 FlareSide bed, 87 was the last year, and, they were low production to start with, unfortunatley, most of the FlareSide related parts are out of production, and, have not been taken up by the aftermarket yet.
IIRC, law only requires that replacement parts be in production for 10 years, so, 97 would be the right year for the end of teeh FlareSide parts...
I need a source, as the brackets are broken on both of my FlareSides.

Thanks for the link Varnish. Is it just me or are parts for Flareside beds hell to find? The only other place I can find any kind of parts for them is Mar-k. If anyone else knows where to get them, speak up!

FlareSide parts are near impossible to get. I've got two of them, and, my first ended up with a flatdeck after my budjet for bed parts ran out....

You should be able to make a set of brackets for the flareside, then you can bring the bumper in closer to the box and give it a roll pan look kinda of effect. I have an (current ones are good though) extra set but because of what i said about the roll pan thing cause i am thinking bout modifing the extras i have (old junker parts truck we found on a reserve)

 

Chuck, its pretty much a piece of channel with curved ends. It's pretty nice though. Not a step.
