Engine swap

K guys I hit a wall. I have a 64 f100 longbed with a 223 3 on the tree. I bought a 67 f100 300 6 cylinder 3 on the tree engine with the tranny. I'm stuck on the engine mounts.... Can I make that 300 engine work in my truck without fabricating new mounts? Please I'm stuck....

I'm using the front mount and bellhousing from a 66 F350 with a 300. In 65 Ford went with the 240/300 instead of the 223 but the bigger trucks kept the old style mounts. So there are two years you will find a 300 in a F350 with the 64 and earlier mounts. This goes the same with the 352 mounts. I have also seen mounts in Jegs or Summit for mounting small blocks in the earlier trucks but I not sure if they will work on the 300. If you go that route you would have to fabricate a rear transmission crossmember and mount.

Using the 65-66 F350 bellhousing it uses the original crossmember mounts (either side of the bellhousing) like you have now. No the 223 uses a different bolt pattern. You said you have a latter 300 and 3 speed. You will have to use your latter 3 speed since the 65-66 F350 bellhousing uses the 65 and latter transmission pattern.

So what I'm getting out of this is I have to get a cross member for the tranny mount welded on? Correct? But I think I could use the front original engine mounts for te 300 to fit in my 64?

Don't you have the crossmember at the bellhousing already in your truck?

No cross member on the 64s. I have the 223 CID in my truck but I don't think the bell housing off that fits the 67 300cid. Let me know otherwise. I did some measuring of both bell housings an te bolts are about 1/4 in different.

Hello. You can find some mounts at LMC Truck ... Truck Parts and Truck Accessories for Chevy, GMC, Ford and Dodge Trucks from LMCTruck.com. The 300 comes in two types, one with a single engine mount, one with a duel. Which is yours?
I had a 64 with a 223, and I liked it. I now have a 66 with a 352 V-8 in it, and I would prefer to have the 300 or even the 223 in it. I think you might be able to use the standard 3 speed manual, and bolt that bell housing on the 300. I think if have a stock Ford Tranny.

My name is Michael. Please contact me.
