Painting order

Hello all,

I have another newbie question to ask all the seasoned veterans.

I'm in the process of restoring a '78 F250 and I just got the cab clean, prepped and shot with epoxy primer. I haven't even started on the bed, doors, hood, etc...

I'm wondering if I should shoot a BC on the exterior of the cab now that it is on a cart and easily accessible or wait until I get it back on the chassis. If I wait until its on the chassis should I at least shoot a BC on the back of the cab now where I have access to it (before the bed goes on).

Also, when is the best time to shoot the interior? Should I shoot that at least while its on the cart? After I shoot the interior I also plan on coating the interior floor with herculiner. I used it on the bottom exterior of the cab and was very please with it. Of course, only time will tell how good it really is. I think I am going to coat the engine bay area with it as well. Any recommendations around those points would be appreciated as well.

Thanks all!

As far as your interior, I would think that might be easier to shoot while on the cart.
I am in the process of doing some body work on my truck too. Although, I am not doing a frame off. However, I am going to take my bed off when I paint the truck, to better access the back of the cab and front of the bed. I am going to paint the interior as well, and am considering using some SPI Bed-liner on my floorboard as well as the truck bed. I have already sprayed the epoxy primer on the bed, fenders, hood and cab outside. I am working on the floorboard panels now. I have also sprayed everything with medium build primer. I have pretty much finished with the bed, hood, and fenders, and am waiting to spray them with sealer. I still have the cab and doors to go. I am using all SPI products on mine.

Do you have a project/build thread? If not, you might want to start one, and post plenty of pictures of your progress as you go along. Here's mine;

Thanks again Grubbworm!

Good luck on your project! I'm finding the body work is a lot of work but it should be real rewarding.

I checked out your build thread and it looks like your making some good progress. I hope your fingers are feeling better. Ouch!

I do have a build thread but I don't update it as often as I should. You can see it here:

Good luck!
