When running about 70mph I get a vibration from the rear tires. I've looked and I'm not missing wheel weights. I'm also running 70 psi in my load rated e tires. what could be my problem? Thanks in advance
Air pressure won't cause it to vibrate. Are you sure it's the rear? Have you checked the shocks? Carrier bearing? Looked for any uneven tire wear to determine which tire it may be?
And just because there are no missing weights doesn't mean the tires don't need to be balanced. Perhaps some stick on wheel weights fell off. Perhaps it's a broken belt in the tire. Perhaps it's a weight that fell off the drive shaft. Could be lots of things that you have to try and narrow down.
I can eliminate shocks, just replaced them. I was coming home from san antonio flying down 281 at 70 mph and my cups in the cupholder starts shaking, my cb radio is shaking and my change in the ash tray is shaking.
I put brand new Monroe shocks on my truck once after some new tires. A few weeks later I developed a howling noise at speed that everyone swore was coming from the rear. Finally noticed one day that every other hump on the front right tire was worn funny. Tire guy said that wear was from a bad shock. Monroe gave me new front shocks for free, but I got to buy another tire.
I would have them rebalanced if this just started cropping up as F350-6 mentioned.
I try to get mine balanced about every 3-5K to get the most out of my BFG Mud-Terrains. I just had them done and the truck would start vibrating around 60mph when I got on the freeway. Took it back and had them re-do all four wheels. Now it's smooth again.
