I bought a 1993 ford f150 xlt extended cab 4x4 im really happy with the truck but im ready to sink some money into it and I would like to start with the engine I was wondering what is the biggest engine I can fit in there? I have the 302 5.0l right now. Any input would be appreciated. Im really looking for a powerful truck the engine I have now is nice but I can stand on the pedal 3rd gear and I get very poor acceleration.

There is a lot of factors to your question. By what I have read over the years this is what I think you will need to do. First, if you want to increase the size of your engine we will need to know what type of transmission you have in the truck? Does your truck have a mass air sensor?
Your engine is basically controlled by a computer. If your truck has the basic speed density setup you will need to convert that to mass air. IF you don't have mass air there is only small engine modifications you can do without making it run like crap.
I'm not an expert but figured I'd reply to your thread to get it going.
What I would do if you have money to blow is find yourself a donor truck. Prefer 96 F150 with a 5.8L motor with 5 speed stick shift. Not sure about the 4x4 part, I prefer 2 wheel drive.
