Switch from 6.0

Well guys, I had to make the switch from my old 2005 6.0 to a the new 6.7. I am moving forums in hopes to get some advice and learn from you other owners. I bought a new 2000 7.3, then the 2005 6.0, and now the new 6.7L. I am anxious to read and watch for any major issues that should be aware of with the new engine. I have had it three days and had to make a run from Texas to Alabama puller a 39 ft. 5th wheel; man was it impressive. Looking for to the conversations.

Congrats and welcome to the new club !
My migration was similar as shown in my signatuire below...
You are going to get even more impressed with the truck as you learn it, promise !

WOW ! Towing with it already ?!?

Good on you as I was skeered to tow until I had some miles on it... but I did misread the manual and thought it said 1000 miles b4 towing... it was only 500 IIRC, but that was a lot of towing miles ago

good luck and enjoy !

Treat it like any other diesel. Put good fuel in it. Add a fuel additive it you think it will help. Change the oil per the maintenance schedule. You will love the truck. Hope you said goodbye to your Ford Service Writer, You probably won't see him much any more,

I had a 2000 7.3, a 2003 6.0, a 2006 6.0 each got a around 100,000 miles before I bought the next truck. This 2011 now has 65,000 miles and is my best truck yet.

As you drive your truck, You will see a Check Coolant message around 13,000-15,000 miles, That doesn't mean your coolant is low, But rather you need to do a routine chemistry test on your coolant to make sure it is still good. coolant is rated at 105,000 miles but may need a Coolant additive a couple of times in that period.

Find yourself a good source for filters and change your oil, fuel and air filters as scheduled.

I had to tow with it that soon in order to get the 5th Wheel and the family home. I had no idea that I was going to have to buy a vehicle while on vacation. Oh well.....crap happens.

Your truck will do just fine. While Ford gives the recommendation to not tow until the truck gets its 500 mile break in. There are many many work trucks that go to work the day after they are purchased with no break in.

Congrats on the new truck. It's amazing what these beasts will do with a gallon of diesel fuel. I also had a 2000 7.3 and a 2003 6.0. I miss the sound of the 6.0, i think it has to be one of the best sounding diesels ever. Now I enjoy the pure power this rendition has and I'm sure you will too.

Yep! I do miss the sound of the older diesels. Stopping at a red light and no diesel sound is hard to get accustomed to.
