Rust Busters!!!
Those of you who have done a body lift kit install or
removed/replaced a bed may be able to help me with
this.
Is there a product that neutralizes rust on the frame
and washes off prior to painting? I remember a product
called "Naval Jelly" that worked pretty good. And before
I put anything back on the frame I'll add a body lift kit
and paint the frame. Any advice on doing a top quality
job would be really appreciated.
The older I get the lazier I am. If it can be done easy
and smart, then
and if not
Thanks muches!

There are several rust converters out there now that in my opinion do a much better job than Naval Jelly. Plus their easier to work with. The two most discussed here and available at Home Depot in the paint department are Ospho or Jasco. Unlike the Naval Jelly, these products are a watery liquid and spray on very nicely.
There are not "miracle" products that do all the work for you so you still have to clean off the heavily rusted areas.
Take a glance through this forum and you'll find a lot more information on this subject.
And thanks for the info. There's only several spots of
really intense rust that will probably take a thorough
wirebrushing, but for the most part, I think what you
recommend will work.
Any recommendations on a primer and/or paint? I'd
prefer to use a red primer then a hi-temp then the
final color.
Thanks again!
