Long story short, after many costly repairs on my 2002 Ram 1500 the head gasket blew Wednesday and after a cussing bout of biblical proportions, I took advice from my wife I should have months ago and traded it off. My new work truck is my wifes old 2005 F150 and she now has a 2012 F150 XLT 5.0. Here are a few pics:

All I can say is WOW, a lot has changed in these things since 2005. I love the sync system and I am sure it can do way more then I have discovered so far. While I am at it, it has a switch to lock the diff. Can anyone clarify what this is and what its for? Thanks
Congrats! Very nice....it's amazing how every one of these trucks looks great in its own unique way.
The electronic locking differential is a tool to increase traction when in a situation where you have unequal traction between the two wheels. In the normal, or open, mode, the wheels can spin at different speeds. When locked, the wheels both rotate at the same speed, allowing each wheel to maximize drive force within the given amount of traction.
Compared to the 05 the cab is huge! The window sticker says the gears are 3.31. Whats odd is that I was looking in the manual to find towing information and those arent listed with the short bed Screw with 5.0. They list either 3.73 or 3.55.
Congrats on the new truck and as a reminder, don't use the locker on the street (unless its covered with ample amounts of mud, snow, etc). When turning with a locker engaged, both tires want to travel the same distance, but the inside tire (inside of the turn) is really traveling a shorter distance, and will want to "hop" in order to catch up with the other one. This can be dangerous, will wear out your tires and can cause mechanical failures. A locker does kick some serious tail when off road though. I love mine!
