OBD I code 58

I pulled a code 58 today, ' idle tracking switch circuit fault'

This one has me scratching my head, any ideas on what exactly has failed?

What year, model, engine truck do you have and when did the code appear? During Key On Engine Off tests or Continuous Memory?

My Ford Truck Service manual does not list DTC 58.......

sorry, the important info would be a big help.

1990 F250, 5.8. KOEO I get 58, 51,22 and 32.

KOER I get 11.( which is good, but it contradicts the KOEO test)
I cleared the codes and re-tested w/ the same results.

Code 58 is still a head scratcher because the other definition is "Vane Air Temperature (VAT) sensor out of range or open - VAT". I suppose that could loosely be interpreted as the Air Charge Temperature (ACT) sensor is out of range. The early Mass Airflow vehicles used a Vane Air Flow sensor to measure airflow into the engine. These were an early version of what we now call a Mass Air Flow sensor.

Code 51: Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor signal is greater than the Self-Test maximum of 4.6 volts. Measure the output with a meter to verify.

Code 22: MAP/BP sensor out of self test range. Measure the output with a meter to verify.

Code 32: EVP circuit below minimum voltage of 0.24 volts. Measure the EVP with a meter to verify. A collapsed EGR diaphragm/spring or a bad EVP sensor can cause this error. It's hard to decipher which is the root cause because the EGR valve preloads the EVP sensor.

You have several sensors indicating they are above the normal test range. Leads me to question the VREF signal sent to these sensors. Normal VREF is 5.00 VDC +/- 15%.

Thanks for the reply. I replaced the ERG last year, the EVP was borderline ok, overall voltage range was ok but the graph looked real 'scratchy' so I'll replace that tomorrow and see what I get. The MAPP was also replaced last summer w/ a good one from Ford, no aftermarket part.
