Electrical help please

Electrical help please

Hooking up a Hydrogen generator and since it's gas is very explosive, I only want it to operate when the engine is running. Lord knows I might have a senior moment let alone my wife or kids decide to take it for a spin. I thought of splicing into one of the alternator wires but I would be happier with a fuse block connection. Would anyone know which fuse I can tap? God bless this bikini weather!!

There are no fuses that are energized based on whether the engine is running. Only whether the key is in the ACC or RUN position or not. You'd have to devise some trigger off the CPS or tachometer feed, or the alternator output as you say. Or you _might_ possibly be able to use the circuit for the oil pressure "gauge" on the dash. It's a glorified idiot light; the "sender" is really just a switch that opens/closes based on a minimum oil pressure.

What about just a manual kill switch in the dash?

I'm thinking about maxi fuse 17. The hazard of connecting to a line which can be energized through ACC or Run would be the generation of H gas being produced with nowhere to go. A cigarette or engine ignition would be a fatal surprise. I kinda like the oil-dash guage but have no idea concerning the Hobbs oil psi switch. If anything I guess I could probe the fuses in the run position and look for an open line.

I _think_ maxifuse 17 is still gonna be energized with the key in RUN, engine running or not.
