Trying to decide

A few months ago I bought a 65 F100 with an I6 and 3 speed. The king pins were tight so I swapped out newer front suspension parts and bought all new brakelines, rotors, etc. It needs front cab mounts, probably floor pans - though not horrible, hood, etc. There is a decent f100 about 4 miles from me that looks solid but isn't road worthy. By the time I purchase it and get it back, I will have another 900 or so invested. Had I known how much I be spending on this I would have found one mostly done. Oh well! I am not after a show truck but thinking a solid cab would be the way to go. Plus his front end is in much better shape. Decisions! Any advice?

I'm in the middle of the same problem with a customer's truck. I thought he paid $600 for a running driving truck. It turns out he paid closer to $800. 6 cylinder three on the tree. I put it on a custom/stretched '85 Bronco chassis. When it came time to do the body work, I made him buy another truck for $600 that was straighter. I'm using the bed and front clip off the parts truck. His cheap work truck quickly turned in to a total custom /modernized weekend cruiser/show truck. These can get way outta hand in a hurry. I don't dare tell this guy what he has invested in his truck so far. He may get upset.

I would bite the bullet and buy the other truck. Once you scavenge all the little parts off it you didn't realize you needed, you could sell the left over parts and scrap the rest and recoup most of the money you spent on it.
