If '53 was the same as '59, the "G" stands for "April Green". Not "Willow Green" or "Holly Green", but "April Green"... according to my info on '57-'60 ID plates. Maybe someone can verify if Ford used the same colors for the '53 as they did for the '59's ???
My chart is from a book aimed primarily at '53/'56 F100's. Code G is always a light green that seems to have changed almost annually through the early 50's. '51= Sea Island Green, '52= Glen Mist Green, '53= Seafoam Green, no light green in '54, '55= Sea Sprite Green, '56= Meadow Mist Green. A lot of other colors are used for several years without change, but not the light greens for some reason.
Thanks for the info. I knew it had to be some very light green or off white color, there is some paint coming off under the rear fenders but I couldnt tell exactly what color it is supposed to be. This truck was painted red in 1984, but I'm considering going back to original color. I will have to see if I can find a "seafoam green" f-100 at the nationals in Pigeon Forge and make the final decision. Last year I saw a 48 painted meadow green and really liked it. Thanks again.
There's one in the Pictorial section of this site. The picture is a little dark, but you get the idea. The '53 I've seen that color on seemed to look a bit more yellow than the one pictured, but it could have been a repaint ( didn't look that close ). It's basically ' Granny Smith apple green '.
