Sputtering when I give it gas

Many times the connector pins on the diagnostic link plug get corroded. A dose or two of contact cleaner usually works pretty good. In a few cases a good scrubbing with a small screwdriver or nail file maybe required.
As norfolknova suggested, go the simple route with a piece of wire to ground the test plug. If you still do not get any codes then you may have a bad PCM as andym indicated above.

How much can you rev it before it starts sputtering? Does ur truck have a tach? What you're describing sounds like computer problems. I've seen this problem 2 times in the past month and the computers were fried. You could rev it up to about 2200 and it'd cut out and die even slowly revving it. And if you can on it quick it chokes right away. Sound familiar?
Reving it while parked does not create the issue. Only when Loading it up while driving down the road..I do not have a tach.
