Radio Capacitor - 1966

Where is the radio capacitor mounted on the stock AM radio in my '66 F100?

Radio Capacitor - 1966

I am refering to a noise surpressor. Old trucks had these capacitors sometimes by the voltage regulator, next to the ignition coil and even on the antenae lead-in. My truck, which did not come from the factory with a radio, does not have any of these.
That could be why my radio plays so poorly! Help!

Thumbs up Radio Capacitor - 1966

Hello Jigsaw!

I had a similar problem with a '63. Radio Shack
or JCWhitney has the noise supressors that
install in-line to the radio's hot wire. Not OEM
but definitely a HUGE improvement with no
electrical whine on acceleration.

Good luck with it!

Thanks. I remember years ago seeing (on other vehicles) a capacitor near the voltage regulator and another by the ignition coil. I was told that they were to prevent radio interference. Nowadays, all that stuff is built in - whether you have a radio or not! I will try Radio Shack. Thanks again.

Talking Radio Capacitor - 1966

Hey Jigsaw

I'm surprised to find someone that still
listens to AM. I still do- and not just for
news/talk. My truck "Wilma" has her AM
still in its original location, one speaker,
and working like it was meant to. The
FM/cass./CD and XM are in the glovebox.

The reason why? Nobody wants to
change stations on the old AM and the
glovebox is locked.

I would say this arrangement is so that
the truck maintains a stock appearance
but you probably guessed different.

See you in the posts!

I thought I would hide my AM-FM Cassette under the seat. I want the AM to work for stock appearance. Great minds think alike!
