Well 4x4 in Refugio you did a pretty GOOD job on both accounts! Thanks for the SNAPPIE come back. A simple yes woud have been sufficent.
Oh....Ah....Your Welcome....LOL
Yes...the switch that screws into and under the master cylinder...the one closest to the front is usually the culprit..it's easy to get to and takes a couple of minutes to do. I actually bought a spare for my glove box cause I know it will eventually fail again.....
Sorry for the SNAPPY come back...Didn't mean it to be snappy....it's just the way I talk.
When mine went out it was the brake pedal switch 2L3Z*9F924*AB. Located at the master cylinder. $38.05
I need to pick up one of these for my 2000 F-250. I've searched online and can't find a "brake pedal switch". Is it the brake light switch you are referring too??? The part number listed doesn't bring up anything either. Did Ford redesign the part numbers, etc.???
I'm glad it started working for you but that's how mine did too.
It started working for me again for a while and then later on it start not work again..Back and forth..Working and not working but finally not working.
I am still pretty dead set sure that eventually you will need that brake switch that is located under the master cylinder.
Just saying.!
Well, I just made a trip (down near Refugio, to Mathis-Sandia-SwinneySwitch) over the weekend. Cruise Control didn't work on the way down, but worked on the way back.
Time to replace the switch, longer trips can be frustrating without cc.
OK, I'm gonna reactivate this thread in the hopes that one of you guys will read and answer my question. What were the symptoms? Mine are: turn the on button to on and hit set and nothing happens. No icon in speedo, nothing. is that consistant with what y'all had. Also, does anyone know where the cruise control fuse might be. I tried the owners manual and two repair manuals and it's not listed there or on the fuse box. What's up with dat. i'd probably just go get a switch except I've been playing with a new tuner so I'm wondering if that might have caused it. Thanks
Yes, that is what happened to me. I replaced the switch on the bottom of the master cylinder (front one as their are two switches on mine) and everything was back to normal. Part # for the switch FMC 3L3Z9F924AB $38.05 from the dealer. Hope that helps.
LOL, you guys are right on this one, I went out and fired up the truck to go do a little shopping and just for grins tried the cruise and it working perfect. So, I'll go pick up a switch. Thanks
I removed the switch in question, had a towel in the fender liner to catch the drips and screwed the new one in, snugged it up and bam, cruise control works like a champ.
Thanks for the part #/info. - much appreciated. I have only one tip from the install, I was able to wield a 10" crescent wrench in there easier than a 7/8" wrench as it was shorter.
