Removing Steering Column
Hi-
While trying to replace the steering coupler disc on my ford I realized that it needed a whole new coupling. Some of the teeth or whatever on the coupling are smooth. Anyway I have the bottom part of the coupling (with disc) removed from the gearbox and I have the column loose in the truck (it moves around freely and is lying on the seat) Now how do you removed the entire column, I want to rebuild it with new bearings and coupler. The top part of the coupler is still connected, I assume I just need to beat that off with a hammer. But how do you disconnect the tranny shift lever and linkage from the column? I want to pull the entire column out. Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks-
Alan
Unplug the T/S connector
The coupler takes a 11 mm 12 point socket to remove it.
4 or 5 bolts to the firewall ,2 under the dash that's it.
