I am trying to figure out what we have on our truck. The running boards don't have the long "ribs" like I see on most F100s. Instead, the wntire center are is "raised." The boards seem to be aged similar to the rest of the truck, so if they are repros, they must be old ones. The previous owner too non-skid vinyl and "cut" them to match the raised area (it looks like crap). Here's a pic:
Nevermind....I just figured it out. The "ribs" are there from the underside but the top was bondo'd. It's annoying because the truck is very clean (no rot) and there doesn't seem to be any rot from the underside of the boards (they aren't painted underneath and it is all metal)....why would somebody do this...?????????????
It appears they did that to make a nice, smooth area to glue their rubber mat to. If it doesn't work for you, you can always grind it off and refinish the boards back to stock with the ribs showing.
