I'm new here too, got my new to me X about where I want it with lift etc. This thread is helpful as well as the forum. Thanks for starting it and for the comments.
Central Tex, I am glad too hear you will be getting it back soon. I have a customer in the adjacent neighborhood and I service their swimming pool every week. So I have been seeing the black X at Empire for awhile now and was wondering when it would be back on the road. Good luck, and I am sure you will enjoy it when they are done with it. I love my V-10 X, I just hate the gas stations!

Small world! Not only do you drive nearby, you've actually noticed the X buried on the hidden lot full of trucks.
It's been there a while. Probably plants growing off the roof.
Welcome to our club.
The Ex can, with standard maintenance, last a long time. I have read many reports of 300,000 on them. My first ex had 42k at purchase and at the time it was totaled it had 190k on it. Other than it had a oil burn habit it was a excellent vehicle.
My wife purchased my second Ex for me it telling me that she did not want me in a different vehicle. .
Both of mine are v10's, but from my reading on this forum is the diesel is a durable engine too.
My second Ex recently rolled 250,000 miles and I am most happy with my Ex as my daily driver. I am believing that I can get 500,000 miles out of mine.
Well, finally pretty close to what I want. This is the 2005 6.0L 4x4 I bought for $9300, it was a wreck needing resurrection. Not literally wrecked, just abused with a major oil leak. It was a neglected vehicle, big time. After a new passenger side mirror, alternator, two new batteries, 4 w85/75/r16 LTX MS2's, Rancho shocks and steering stabilizer, RAS, Hellwig rear sway, new Video head unit, new speakers, thorough detailing, Weathertech mats front to back, new rear bumper, resurfaced heads, head studs, complete motor seal kit, oil cooler kit, exhaust, SCT tuning, all new fluids front to back - I think it is OK. I paid a very low price and kind of rolled the dice on it, the finished product is OK but some things I still need to do are perhaps all new rotors and pads and some steering components like tie rod ends, ball joints, etc to fix some drift in steering I still have. Cosmetically, there is a major key mark on the side pictured below which is too expensive to fix, some minor leather damage, two missing rear roof air ducts, minor scrapes and nicks on paint due to careless owners. But the end product feels like "mine" since so much work was done to it. I could have just paid around $20-$25K for one with lower miles and similar updates as above, I am in for around $20K total but I liked picked out parts and upgrades. One of the main reasons I got this was to replace a half ton Nissan Titan I used to tow our 7K pound 33' travel trailer. The Titan towed OK but shifted a lot and the transmission would get hot. It was a struggle for it and get pushed around a bit by the trailer. I did a test tow with the Excursion and it's much more stable, still shifts going up a hill but far less shifting and I assume the gas mileage while towing will be 30-40% better. I love the 44 gallon tank too.
Some photos (sorry, in the garage, too lazy to pull out for better photos)
I added RAS as well as a Hellwig rear sway bar. I don't want to go v/b springs because I squeeze into the garage with only a couple inches to spare. I I understand correctly, the beefier springs will jack up the height.
I just fit into my garage and understand your concern. With V/B and RAS, I am at 82" height to top of rails. Cross bars removed. My garage opening is 83.5".
Congrats on getting it back from Empire and on the road. It looks great! I am sure you will enjoy the X. Maybe I will see you on the road some day. I see a ton of X on the roads here around Austin and wave at most of them, some wave back some don't.
Just purchased 2005 X limited with 150k. I was wondering if anyone new a quick fix or a known issue with the display above the rearview now working. Hoping Someone knows something its the only issue I have with it. Thanks

Sometimes, the connectors come loose in this display. Just take it down (screws hidden behind sunglass pouch and others) and check all the electrical connectors. Mine did the same thing.
