"Good shooting, son!"

Someone raised this boy right, hope they can get past this incident. Every parent's nightmare--answered by every intruder's nightmare:

people are in an uproar because he had acces to the weapon but he obviously was raised in a weapon and safety training awreness enviroment because he showed incredible wisdom and presence of mind.

Yea, I looked at that story again yesterday and saw one handwringer talking about how they should have hid in the room and called 911. Well, maybe so, and maybe that would have worked. I suppose some are comfortable betting their lives that the guy who just broke in only wants some cash or jewelry.....

Now I don't know the second by second of this, but it sounds like the kid looked down the stairs to see what was going on and the intruder pointed a gun at him. How would that go if had a phone in his hand instead of a gun?

What we do know is that it worked for that kid to pop the intruder. Since he's alive, maybe "the rest of the story" will tell the tale here as to whether the kid saved himself from a scary robbery or certain death. Self defense laws, castle doctrines, common sense and the authorities in the case say you don't have bet your life on the answer to that question.

All you have to do is read In Cold Blood and The Onion Field to realize how nuts, stupid and unpredictable a criminal can be. And people who break into occupied houses in this country are among the stupidest and most unpredictable of them all.

Just found the 911 call....no gun on the perp....maybe the other one took it, maybe he didn't have it. Too bad for him. Also, I thought I saw something about how the perp was not related in any way to the family, but I can't find that now. It also says the kid had a shotgun.

This is going to go sour real quick if it's some a-hole drug buddy of the old man or something......
