instrument cluster problem, please help

Hey everybody, I recently purchased a used instrument cluster off of ebay for my 95 f150. I wanted the tach, so i got one. swapped out my speedo in the new cluster and installed it. Everything works right except the voltage gauge. It reads about N right now and doesn't move. I've got like 600 watts of lights and can't get it to budge ! Now the wierd thing is on the right side, i have a rear abs light and NO battery warning light. So from checking my ford maual, this cluster didn't exist. What gives? any suggestions? any clue? I haven't got one. don't care too much about the gauge, just the warning light. thanks.

Dan

They did a tech article on doing this. You might want to check that out and compare. I know it says there are minor voltage changes in 92-96 series of trucks. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I read all that. This isn't a voltage difference. It just doesn't work. And the lightbulb isn't even there !! Plus, it gets better. Now i have a rev limiter at 4 grand. truck won't shift or anything. just stay right at 4. please help !!

The early years of the variety 92-93 did not have the air bag light, some probably did not have abs light. When you put that in your later one you will be missing some lights, warnings.

the wiring harness changed. I put a 95 cluster in my 93 and had to change about 5 or 6 wires to make them match up. The important one was the battery light which completes the circuit for the alternator. Without that check light to complete the circuit there was no output.

I was able to make the later one work in the earlier truck, but am not sure that you can go the other way around.

I went to my Ford dealer and copied the wiring diagrams for the years I was working on to get the locations of the wires in the cluster plugs.

Good luck!

I took the cluster out and checked it out. turns out the battery light is where the abs light is on my year. I wouldn't be to concerned with that stuff, just the rev limiter. Anyone have any idea whats up with that? Clerk, wanna trade clusters? I have a 95 truck with a 92 dash, youve got a 93 truck with a 95 dash !
