Hiya, what is the proper name for the ball joint at the axle end of the track bar on a 2005 F250 4x4? I can't seem to find a replacement joint anywhere? Also has anybody ever replaced theirs? How difficult is it?
On mine (early 99 and 00 Ex) The stock track bar (Pan Rod) is a solid (non-adjustable) piece. They make replacement parts for those that are adjustable that one would use if they are lifting the truck by installing a leveling kit or lift kit. Some of these come with the replacement track bar that are adjustable or have relocation brackets to accommodate the lift and allow you to re-use the stock track bar.
I have replaced mine with the ICON adjustable on both as a result of installing leveling kits, the link below will take you to their web site. It looks like for the 05 that they offer 2 flavors, one with an upgrade which looks like it has a bearing to address "Death Wobble", so maybe that is what you are looking at. If you (or who ever installed the leveling kit) used the stock track bar with the leveling kit I would not think that was the case.
If it is the same as the 99-04, the bar itself mounts to fixed locations on the frame and axle and so there is no "ball joint" or tie rod end for them.
The parts you are probably referring to are the tie rod ends and there are 2 on the left and 2 on the right (upper and lower), these are the end links on the steering linkage.

Hey, thanks for the reply. There is definitely a ball joint on one end of my track (panhard) bar and i've found that the part number is BC3Z3050C. I prefer to install a drop bracket to correct the steering geometry after the leveling kit and will do that once the bar is out. Has anybody replaced this joint in the track bar themselves? I've attached a pic of my front end where the tech has marked the loose joints, a lower ball joint and the track bar joint.
