I didn't cut that part off my pedestal, kinda wish I would have though. I don't have a way to weld it up either and didn't wanna take the time to take it some where, so I just did the pipe plug and unplugged the solenoid. I've got two other pedestals though. I'm gonna cut and weld those some time.

Good luck with the core support. You'll either need to find a good used one or modify the gas one somehow. You can't buy them new.

Yep, around here there is no such thing as a good used one. That's the very first thing to rust. I bought a new aftermarket gas one for the cc and I'm gonna graft the bottom part on from the diesel on. That part usually doesn't rust bad.

yea i know a couple good salvage yards down south that i should be able to get one from so finding one shouldn't be too bad i'm more worried about the price and the freight to ship it.

Do what I did. I drove from here in southern WV to Greenville SC to get a rear door for my cc! LOL!

i'd replace all the stuff these guys are talking about plus i'd pull the valve covers, replace the inj. w-h, glowplugs, v-c gaskets send the inj's to JR for a"tune-up" do the water pump too while it's sitting there starting at you.transmission mods,or preventative maint. is also a good idea at this time (if you have an automatic) i've seen to many " swap&go's" and then a month later guys crying i wish i would have.................. just my 2 cents

If it were me (and if I had the money to do all of this), I would do new valve cover gaskets and wiring, dual tensioner, water pump (maybe the IH one with integral filter base), new exhaust manifolds, bellowed up pipes, delete the EBPV, set it up for an intercooler, new oil pan and gasket, send the injectors to Rosewood, get a better HPOP, probably do electric fuel, make sure all of the block plugs and other stuff are in good working order, and then do anything else that I remembered while it was out.

yea i don't have the cash for all of that right now but i am going to go though it pretty well and make sure everything is in working order and fix any leaks that i come across. By the way oil pans does everyone use a stock replacement from like rockauto or is there a nice after market piece that isn't too expensive?

Stock replacement would be fine. I'm not even sure there is an aftermarket pan.
