I have a set of Exploder seats in my '67. PO had installed them and when I get around to redoing it, first thing I am going to do is ditch them damn seats!! 6way power is nice and all..... but pinching the cajonies every time I get in and out is not fun!!!!!!!!!
they are nice comfortable seats, but I'm not big on bucket seats in these trucks... I'd like to see it though, as I have a 96' explorer out back that i'm gonna be takin the body off of here in a few months, and putting a 85' extended cab (small) ranger body on it, the explorer body is immaculate, but the ranger means just slightly more to me... (the explorer is still important, but theres something i have to do with the ranger...)

I'm thinking the seats aren't the problem and not having a tilt steering column is!
I can't see how you catch yourself on the seat every time you get in.
Can I ask you a favour to post up a picture of all of the aspects of the six-way power? I'm having a hard time getting the seller of these seats to post up anything about their power options and searching on the internet always gives me greif...
Pics are appreciated! Thanks in advance if you can get me some!
seller? you can find any seat you want from a u pull it yard for like $30
Not where I come from. SGI (the provincial-wide government issuer) scoops everything up from any crashes and/or total losses. Then they part it out and sell everything for dealer price.
The closest auto wrecker to me doesn't have anything newer than 2000+ unless it's a cavalier, and nothing ever comes in that has leather interior or anything decent to take from.
It's slim pickin's up here unless you go on craigs list.
Aaron, I put these eddie bauer seats in my dads 83. Both have full power and leg lumbar support. We used the brackets that came on the seats. The front mounts were bent out to fit his floorpan. I know an 83 is not the same, but they are similar in size and width. The console is from a 2000's big explorer. The seats are from the small explorer.

wow that really stinks! If I didn't have junkyards and stuff nearby I'd probably just sell my truck. lol. Or move.
I think it depends on how tall you are as to how well that would work, I prefer the low back bench in the old trucks because you can slide the seat back further. I'm only 5'11" but it seems like every vehicle I get in I have to slide the seat back as far as it will go, my 78 included. I rode in a ranger with buckets once and if you wanted to slide the seats back much, you had to tilt the seat back almost straight up. I was either bending my knees into the dash or driving leaning forward. I did not care for it.
The nice thing, though, about our trucks, is just how simple the seat brackets are. With a bit of angle iron you can make a sturdier than stock seat mount for just about any seat you would want to put in there.
My father is 6'2". My mother is 5'6". I am 6'5". With those seats, we can all drive the truck without being crammed in. The seats have up, down, forward, back, front tilt, and rear tilt. They have pull out front lumbar, side bolsters that adjust and rear lumbar. For a factory ford seat with very little fabrication to fit in stock form, you can not beat them. (no welding)
Short or tall they work for all.
It is very nice when my mother drives with the seat forward, that the passenger can sit back away from the dash. If I come across another couple of sets, they will be in my trucks.
there are tons upon tons of exploders and expeditions in our pick a pull yards, most with leather. I know because I've been scouting out rear head rests to install 3rd row head rests on my excursion. I think they charge $40 a seat for seats, and some of them are in really good shape.
Unfortunately our yard is full careless, all about me, people.. They scarf down any good interior or exterior part in a matter of minutes. They destroy all items in their way to get their parts. If they can not get it they will pile big greasy nasty parts on the seats.

That looks awesome! Thanks for the photo!
Those are the seats from a 96? They look great!
The guy I talked to tonight said that the cloth electric seats have the same things you've described which is AWESOME!
He's also got consoles that should all fit, if they're not the full length. Even if they are, I can always dye it the same shade of grey that the seats are.
Those are the seats from a 96? They look great! That sounds about right. It was the small explorer and they have eddie's name at the top.

Do you have any other pics of that interior?I looked, but can not find anymore.
The way I did them in his truck was to center the seat under the column. I then lined the front mounting holes of the seat with the original front bench seat hole.
That seemed to give good forward and rear movement in the cab.The front seat mounting holes are horizontal with the floor, so I bent them out some until they were more vertical with the floor. We also used grade 8 bolts with nylocks and large flat washers.
I used a heavy gauge speaker amp wire to run power to the seats and grounded the ground wires to the cab. Red and black wires on the seats are your power.
