Hi, I have a 1996 Ford 4X4 F150 XLT. It has a 351 Windsor V8. It currently has the CAT on it with a Flowmaster 40 Series muffler. I love the look of stacks and want to put a single stack or double stacks on it. I want to know if anyone has done this, or knows anyone who has? Am I goin to lose power at all? Also, can I do it so the muffler can be kept on the truck? Since it is a 96, it still has to be smogged here in California, or else I would I would straight pipe it. That is the only thing stopping me. Any feedback at all would be great.
Thanks.
Dont put stacks on a gas truck, for the love of god. Even with a muffler its annoying and obnoxious right behind your head. But if youre convinced that its a good idea, you wont lose power, and itll be tight fitting cats and a muffler under there
I know some of you dont like stacks on a gasser, but if I ended up doin it, would I be able to set the stacks up and still keep the Flowmaster muffler on the truck? Or would I have to take the muffler off?

I have dual glasspacks before my stacks.....you can keep it and put it before the bed and run the tubes up to the stack in the bed.
I personally dislike stacks on any truck other than big rigs. I encourage you not to do this to yours. The only half ton gas powered truck I have ever seen that pulled off stacks was the Little Red Express.
I have a "hill billy" buddy from texas, Yea go figure... He had a 89 F250 with a 351W and he though stack's would be cool, WRONG! He spent like 200 buck's getting it all put on and then he cut it all off 2 day's later.
They sounded like crap and the noise inside the cab was retarded! He also had a Flowmaster 40.
BUT, It's your truck do what you want......................
Of course back then diesel pickups were rare because gas was only a $1/gal. I custom made them with glass packs inside the pipes(kinda like a typical side pipe are built). Had a 302/toploader 4spd and 4.11 gears.
Basically sounded like sidepipes, with a deep rumble.
