Help id rear from ice cream truck 8" or 9"
Just what it says (lol). Pulled this rear out of a 60's little box truck that was a old ice cream truck, tag id is top line WFP-A1 1FD lower line 3L70 8 7 650A The only thing i find close is 70 bronco??? any help would be great
Is this an F series based truck or a forward control truck?
Should be a 9", but I don't find that code in the decoder ring I have, and the ratio should be 3.70, limited slip, based on the tag.
Any chance some of those letters got smushed and might be something else?

I know it's a clumsy and hardly scientific way to tell, but a pretty good way to determine whether you have an 8" or 9" is with a socket and a 3/8" ratchet. If you can get on the two nuts beneath the pinion snout with a ratchet, it's most likely an 8". If you can only get on those nuts with a combination wrench, then it should be a 9".
Also, I've never heard of an 8" coming with a 3.70 ratio, but I haven't heard it all yet...
