Help Burning up the ECM

I'm looking for a little help. My 79, 100, 2wd, auto, with a 302 that i guess is older because it uses points, keeps waisting ECMs. I'm on my third one in 6 months which is very high considering I use the truck about once a week. Are their any thoughts on what to do to eliminate the problem or do I just buy 2 and mount them next to each other?

For one, you shouldn't have points if it's a stock Duraspark II ignition. Cheap chinese control modules are notorious for going bad. I'll take one out of a junkyard before buying one. Heat is a killer on these things, make sure there is airflow underneath it. I've had exactly one Motocraft module go bad in 25 years.
