i have a question for everyone who has dp tuner do you notice that the truck runs better in 100 performance tune than 80 ecno reason i ask is one the truck is a bit of a dog in 80 and the turbo is laggy also mpg is better by 3 mpg between the two also the shift in 80 is harsh between 2nd and 3rd when it shifts smooth in the rest of the tunes except stock never used it due to the setup i have lemme know what your ideas are also how many of you use 100 perf as a dd tune
I use the econ tune for DD. I ran all of his tunes (I have 9 performance/tow tunes) on the dyno and the one that had the highest HP by far is the Economy tune. It is better than Aggressive and even the Extreme tune.

I remember reading that before Neal about the economy tune, sure is strange. What tune do you use for towing?
are you sure about the tune placement on the switch?
on mine, 1 is stock, 2 is 80 econo, 3 is 140 race and 4 is 60 tow. don't know why, but that is what the paper said when i got the chip. and you can definitely feel the difference between settings.
so if you would assume that the higher the number the higher the power setting on the switch,2 is 60 tow and 4 is 140 race, than you would think that 60 tow was stronger than the race tune, and 140 race got better mileage than 80 econo
yes i followed the paper and i ordered the tunes in that specific order it is stock 80 ecno 40 tow 100 perf 120 extreme big difference between 80 and 100 it is the shift quality and the doggy feeling between the two that bother me
I got the f-6 chip and a manual tranny. I have a hell of a time telling which I get the best mpg's out of. That gosh darn skinny pedal just goes right to the floor for some odd reason I do notice a proper power diff between them all. I contacted Jody and asked him a few ?'s and he highly recommends doing a live data log with AE. 35-80 mph WOT. Then send it to him. Once I rastle up a lap top thats what I am doin. Oh and get this beast put back together!!!!
This is kind of unrelated but yet is...has anyone got the drive through tune? I want to do one of their chips and the drive through tune has me curious if a person could get away from shutting down every time...i know it is silly but it is a pain everytime ....and i need an excuse to get a chip so my wife will be on board.....

The reason I bought a diesel was to keep me from going through drive through lines so it forces me to eat a little better.
But I too have been wondering about it. As I do drive through a few trailer parks every now and then.
Ya, in a campground late at night or leaving first thing in the morning would be nice. I hate it when the diesel pushers and trucks start up and let them idle for 30 min at 5 am.
Also, since you fellas are curious also...can the engine be more than idled in "drive through"...obviously it would not go pulling down the road but at least for warming it up quietness would be paramount.i just hate shutting it down to do business at the bank even.i do and would not sell because of it but boy oh boy would that be nice.or to actually hear on the cell when pulled over to talk with the truck running.
You dont want to use an idle down tune to warm up.
It throws the timing off really weird and your truck will throw white smoke big time.
any sort of Idle down tune is good for moving if you have a stick shift, but not recommended for automatics, from me at least.
I dont have a tq to lock up. You dont really want to use the skinny pedal with an idle down tune because its not designed for that.
As for drive thoughs, i don't even bother with it there, its still loud as hell, but it knocks of the injector rattle.
I use my idle down tune for moving in the yard at idle or going over rough area's that dont' require power so I can go slow.
Works good for wet grass and not spinning out tires.
It is not recomended for long idle periods with these tunes either.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think its because of wet stacking.
