2-speed
Hello,
I want to put a 2-speed rear in the truck that is
in the planning stages. (F600)
What was the last year that Ford used a 2-speed.
I would like to find & used the latest year possible.
Thanks JESS

Eatons's site still shows two speed axles available:
Drive Axle Single
Looking at "Truck Paper" I find 2 speeds up to '92. My guess is they were available right up to the point the F600 became the F650.

The other thing to consider is what wheel you are going to run. You don't want a 10 hole in the back and a 6 in front, so you'd have to look for similar year front and rear axles.

Yes I'm finding out lots more to consider. But if I do, It shouln't be
too much trouble. I'm also going to make a 4x4!

You "can't" have a two speed rear axle with a 4x4. Oh sure, you can build it that way, but you will eventually make that mistake and tear the TC or at least a driveshaft out of it.....
Your front axle will have to match the low of the two speed.

Is this for your '56 F600? What did you decide to do for a motor--I recall the multifueler thread--?

f600
Yes, that was the plan. My plan seems to be very fluid at the moment.
No mulitfuel, just won't fit. I belive my best option is to buy a f600-f800
with a cummins and 4x4. Swap the 56 cab on the 4x4 chassis.

you coul always go out and find a 2 speed brownie. it would just have to be before a divorced x-case. my dad has a 57 gmc 650 that came with a powerglide and a 2 speed brownie that had a 1:1 and a 2:1 gear. it was a rather odd animal, since somebody put a 307 small block and a 4 speed in it.
