When I tried to put the window up on the passenger's door this afternoon the usual hum from the electric lift mechanism was the same but the window was not moving up. If I assisted the glass with my hand while trying to raise the window it would go up and stay in place. It will go down as normal.
If anyone can provide any information about what part(s) may need replaced I would appreciate knowing what I am looking for before I take off the door panel. Any chance that I might be able to repair a part rather than replace it? Thanks for any insight.
Once you remove the panel and drill out the center punch marks (use 3/4 bit) that locate the bolts for the motor you can remove the motor and then the screw retaining the plate covering the gears. You will see the problem. Repair is a new gear kit avaible either from Ford or some local parts houses.
Thank you very much- I appreciate being "armed" with information when chasing a problem.

The large gear is made of PLASTIC! And cracks badly thus making your window inop. All the internals of that mechanism are plastic too. I just purchased lifetime regulators for $50 from O'reilly.
I replaced the gear set for $16 but you are of course correct it is plastic. I am not familiar with "O'Reilly" Are they catalog sales? Do you have an address to share? Thanks
