I hear Ford's gonna stop making E-Series vans, too, due to CAFE issues. Last MY is 2013 if I heard right. If I had the $$, I'd buy a dozen and store 'em for re-sale when Romney takes office and gas drops to $2.25/gallon in 2014. !!!
I had not heard about the vans yet. But they are pushing that new Transit hot and heavy. I hope they don't stop making the F350 15 passenger vans?
Brew, long time, no hear from you!! How is your little curtain climber doing? I certainly need a parking garage. For sure. I ran out of garage and carport space when I bought the new Tahoe last year. Half my stuff ends up sitting out in the rain now sadly enough.
Awesome, I love panthers! I have an '05 CVPI and have had a '99 LX in the past. I miss the LX and regret selling the thing. Crown Vic's are the ***** along with X's
I have two now. The other is a 2001 CVPI with 21,000 miles on it. That's not a typo..... 21,000 miles. Looks like it rolled off the assembly line yesterday. I upgraded it to 2003+ headrests, AM/FM/CD, and 2005 chrome wheel covers.
Gotta love those Crown Vics! I was able to rent one awhile back and spend some decent time behind the wheel for the first and probably last time...I was really hoping I could try out the crazy reverse speed they can hit but I wasn't able to
You have 2 beautiful Vics. I love the fanblade wheels on the black one. Hope you keep that '01 with such low miles for a long time, when everyone is driving Leafs, you can still be driving the largest SUV and one of the last body on frame RWD 2 ton V8 sedans!
I went to a driving school Tuesday at MSR Houston and the instructor and got to talking. They hold a law enforcement driving school as well and she was telling me about how the Crown Vic will be missed; she's driven both the Crown Vic and the Charger (the vehicles TxDPS selected to replace the panthers) and felt that the Charger was much less predictable and more difficult to drive hard compared to the CV.
Just grabbed a Crown Vic taxi and chatted with the owner on his 30 yrs of experience. He runs them to 400-500K, then picks up a used police car for $5-7K with 150K miles and keeps on cabbin'. He said he'd never switch from the vic... But he's also @ 71 yrs.
Anyone who hasn't driven one is missing out. Even though I love my X, I'm forever a Crown Vic man. Mine's at 150k miles and I've rebuilt the front end (body) twice (deers) and put over $5000 into rebuilding the tranny, alternator, performance rotors & pads, KYB shocks, etc, etc and I plan on driving her forever. I regret selling my LX.
For the price (police auctions) you cannot beat the value of a Crown Vic IMO. Here I can get them for about $1500 for a 2006+ with around 100k miles that don't need an inspection or bodywork just the usual tranny rebuild.
$3000 (with the rebuild) for a full size RWD body on frame V8 sedan pushing 300ft/lbs of torque that's very reliable, that's awesome.
