I have a 69' F100 2wd SWB that is having some major alignment issues. I need to adjust the camber(I think) my front tires look like this \ /. I can not find anyone that has the camber toe bushings for a 2 wheel drive truck. O'reilly's has some stuff for 4 wheel drive only. I also looked at LMC trucks and they do not offer them. How do I fix this? Where do I find the parts? It is eating holes in my tires and this truck is my daily driver so I need to fix it asap.
These trucks don't have ball joints. Bushings are for the 80- 96 trucks, IIRC. You have to have the I-beams bent to change the alignment. Go to an alignment place that does big trucks to get it done.
I think I have this problem with my 72 also, the front tires outer tread is worn a lot more than the inside or middle tread. So how much is an alignment on one of our I-beam trucks?
Someone put new springs in the front of it. All the bumps I've owned, never had to have any major alignments done(beside toe in). Used to be popular to have the need to "bend" the arm to straighten out camber issues. Be hard pressed to find someone these days.
On my truck the tires were wearing on the outside, so I had the tires flipped and when the guys jacked up my truck the spring started making all sorts of crazy popping noises. After that my truck was all messed up. The steering is all loose and funny feeling and the front tire whine when I drove it home. So I parked it. Could the spring noise I heard be causing me to have issues?
Sounds like spring moved in perch , try jacking it up again and seeing if spring is loose .
be careful the spring is under pressure and can really f you up quick
There should have been a small clip holding the spring up on top. Maybe it broke loose and allowed the spring to fall and get out of the pocket. There is a notch for the end of the spring to sit in, you can see it from the top of the perch if you look closely.
Once you jack the truck up, the springs will be relaxed enough to rotate "IF" the clip is broke and the spring is free.
