71 half cab. Are you saying you installed the EMF hinges and there is wobble in the hinges and one side comes down faster than the other? Do they close the hood without having to pat it from one side to the other?

Still hoping to get more input from members who have installed these hinges and the pros and cons.

I pulled the trigger and ordered a set. Hope to have them installed by Spring so I can get some of the concerns answered.

I mounted the hinges and they just as awesome looking as they look in the photos. Im really wondering if it would work to put a solid stainless steel or painted rod in the upper hinge arms (from hinge to hinge). The rod would connect both hinges at the upper arms and help them open and close together instead of wanting to open and close independent of each other. Dont think I have the nerve to drill holes in them to find out.

Would love to hear a complete write up and review of how you think they work and are they worth the money. So we actually have one and there is one out there in the world.

Working in that direction. Regarding my idea of connecting the two hinges, I think that could be done without modification to the hinges. A simple "L" bracket comming off each hinge to hood mounting hole in the upper arm could perhaps allow the two hinges to be connected. It looks like there is room to clear the cowling by connecting hinges to operate together in the upper hinge arms.

Ill get some taken and posted in the am. Hood not on, just hinges partially bolted in place to figure out a way to consider joining them to each other. My idea of using a bracket on the upper arm to hood mounting holes will not work. Those holes are bearings and will not stabilize movement between the hinges.

Bad idea. If it was needed and/or feasible it would have already been done.

Could be, but part of the problem is based on earlier input that I understood confirmed the hood hinges still allow the hood to come down faster on one side than the other. I called Eddie Motorsports and they said the hinges cure about 80% of the problem but not 100%. Mid Fifty states (in regards to these hinges), quote, "Very Cool, very expensive. Still works the same as stock hinges, including the original issues". Based on three confirmations of the problems with these hinges, I would assume there is a possible solution for improvement. So far, I am coming up with nothing that would work.

"I got the hokey pokey" "The drivers side hinge comes down quicker than the pass side, but what is nice its always in the same location each time".

I am assuming what half cab is saying, regardless of the difference in rate of decline, once the hood is shut, its the same on both sides without the need for "patting down the corners"

Don't make assumptions based on others comments, install your hinges and see how they work for you. There are any number of reasons for why one truck works differently than another...yours may or may not work similarly. If I experienced the hinges operating at a different rate I would find the source of that condition, more than likely it is that the gas pressure in the struts doesn't match. Whatever the case it is a fool's errand to try to develop a "fix" before a proper analysis has been done.
