Removable winch

Today I started working on this.....You will ask why I didnīt use tubes.....cos the places where you can find the kind of tubes I need sells minimun 9 feet (of each kind) and cost about $270.- ...so I had to find other way to fabricate it....

Started cutting the holes in the frame....

This "crossmember " comes thru the holes about 2 or 3 inch on each side.....with the idea (in the future) of connect it to each end of the bumper to reinforce it....

At last it will be with 2 receivers....both behind the licence plate

I think the winch will a little closer to the bumper, but I still have to make the holes on it to see how much closer I can go....

I for one, being a Welder / Fabricator myself, appreciate your idea on this. However Im not sure the channel will hole up to any significant load. Channel is softer than standard tube material in my experience. Im not sayin it wont work, and will be the first to say Im wrong if it does. Just not a choice of material I would choose for that application, but then again, Im not you

Kudos on building a removable mount for an old school Warn 8274. Having one of them myself I must recommend a back brace or good friend to help if you are going to be lifting it a lot. Nice to see all the work and I like that you are using 2 tubes to spread the load for the winch mount.
I would suggest adding some smooth handles on each side of the plate to grab it and hold on as it is hard to get a good grip on the winch. Nice work and keep the updates coming please.

Thanks man, I appreciate your opinion on that....I think this will work fine....but Iīm sure that using the tubes I could have used less material to get the same strenght.....Iīll test it as soon as I finish it....

If you can i would also recommend you weld in some recovery/tow point up front. this will also give you a place to have the hook when not in use.

Today I added a couble of reinforcements from the center of tho winch mount to the engine crossmember....

Also made 2 "brackets " to mount the bumper....It was impossible to put the nuts in the upper bolts , so I used 2 strips of 1/4 metal , threaded and used them in place of that nuts.....They fit very tight and then I put the lower bolts....
