2004 2wd to 4wd swap questions +Atlas TFC
I have a low mile 2wd F 150 extra cab, 5.4, 2wd. I read Rogue_Wulff's POST
and it seems like an easy swap. I would like to simplify:
I already have a 6" lift.
I want to use an Atlas transfer case.
Can I swap in the Ford 4wd front end in, build the mounts for the ATlas so I don't have to worry about electronic shifting?
I don't mind getting custom shafts too.
Can I get manual hubs for the Stock 4wd front end?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah if your going aftermarket with the t case, then I would think that the ford 4x4 front end would be at the bottom of your list of front end components.
If it were me, I would take your 6 inch lift and tires off and trade your truck in on one that is already 4x4 and put your lift back on it. You're going to run into a lot more snags than you anticipate trying to do this swap.

My second option was:
2004 F250 front axle with tone rings
Weld on spring hangars
Get springs made
completet the solid axle set-up then do the Atlas TC.
Anyone know how much the steering geometry would be?
In answer to other question: two daughters in college, don't want a car payment.
If I can do for under $5,000 I'd be happy.
